GFA PRESIDENT WON'T SEEK RE-ELECTION

President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi has confirmed that, he will not be contesting the GFA Presidency in 2019. Mr Nyantakyi who is a Banker, Lawyer, Football Administrator and Bank roller of Wa All Stars football club is set to pave way for a new person to take over from him as the new President of the football association after his term. GNPC TO SPONSOR INTERCO

The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) is set to sponsor inter schools and colleges athletics sports competition popularly known as INTERCO from next year. As part of their social responsibility, GNPC is looking beyond their normal scholarship they give to students to study outside Ghana. This year, GNPC is also giving 500 students scholarship to study here in Ghana. Again GNPC is looking forward to sponsoring the INTERCO which will add up to their social responsibility to the nation. AWAL MOHAMMED CLEARED BY FIFA

Kumasi Asante Kotoko dependable defender Awal Mohammed has been declared a free player by Fifa. Awal who left Saudi Arabian club Al-Shebab as a free agent  joined Moroccan side Raja Casablanca. After one season with the club, Awal terminated his contract with the team. The case went to Fifa and the player was given temporal ITC from Fifa to enable him play for Asante Kotoko. After the long awaited verdict, Fifa has finally declared the player as free and has tasked Raja Casablanca to make a payment of $54000 and 5% interest per annum within 30days to the player. It was initially announced that the training tour was going to be held in two European countries, but due to weather conditions, the management has made some late changes and this time it is going to be held in Dubai. KOTOKO RESUMES TRAINING

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC after their loss to Elmina Sharks in the 26th league fixture at the Ndoum Sports Stadium on 30th of August 2017 will return to the field to start preparation for the MTN FA CUP semi finals and the 4 league games left. The team was given some days off to rest and also visit their families and all are expected to report to the Adako Jachie Training grounds on Wednesday 6th September 2017 to start training. Three players namely Felix Annan, Amos Frimpong and Ahmed Adams are the only players not expected to report now due to national duty in the upcoming WAFU tournament. The team's hopes of winning this years league is very very Slim and the only hope left now is for the team to win the MTN FA CUP trophy. NYANTAKYI STILL HOPEFUL

The 2017 National Sports Festival was officially launched on 2nd September 2017 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. In attendance was the Vice President of Ghana HE Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Sports minister Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Hon Robert Sarfo Mensah Director General NSA, KMA Boss Hon. Osei Asibey Antwi, GFA President Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi and a host of other dignitaries. All the regions in Ghana are in Kumasi to participate in the Sports Festival which was scheduled between 31st August- 7th September 2017. MARTIN AMIDU TO BE NAMED AS SPECIAL PROSECUTOR

Martin A. B. K. Amidu  is a Ghanaian politician. He was the  Attorney-General and  Minister for Justice  from January 2011 till January 2012. KOTOKO TO GET OWN STADIUM NEXT SEASON- CLUB CHAIRMAN HINTS

The second oldest club in Ghana Kumasi Asante Kotoko is hopeful of playing on their own pitch when the new season starts. The team established in 1935 cannot boast of own stadium and other basic infrastructure, but Club Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei plans to construct an edifice which could be called their own in the shortest possible time. The kumasi-based club play their home matches at the state-owned  Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
