PASTOR, 2 ASSISTANTS JAILED 4 YEARS EACH.

A Pastor and his two Assistant of Church of Pure Christ in Volta Region are to serve 4 year jail term each for flouting the ban on social gathering issued by the President of the Republic of Ghana

Apostle Sampson Agakpe with his assistant Pastor, Maxwell Dzogoedzikpe and church secretary, Samuel Agakpe on April 12, held Sunday Service and over 50 people were present.

Prosecutor told the court that, the Police had information Apostle Agakpe, was having Sunday Service at the church premises at Tongor-Abui in the South Dayi District Assembly.

The Police proceeded to the scene and met the Apostle Preaching to a congregation of over 50 “in flagrant disregard of the President of the Republic of Ghana’s imposed restrictions on public gathering including Religious activities in churches”.

The Police said this is a breach of the ban on gatherings contrary to Regulation 1 Sub section 1 of EI 65 and section 6 of Act 1012.\

They were fined Ghc13,200 each and in default serve 4 year jail term.

As at Thursday, April 16, they had failed to pay the fine totaling Ghc39,600, forcing authorities to send them to the Ho Central Prion to serve the four year jail term.
